Purpose and Significance
Zoroastrian Rites – For the Parsi community, the Tower of Silence represents a profound spiritual practice. Ecological Role – The traditional practice at the Tower of Silence highlights an ancient ecological approach to death. However, changes in vulture populations and urban development have presented challenges to this centuries-old tradition. The site is a testament to the enduring cultural and religious practices of the Parsi community in India .
