What is this place?
Victory Tower – I am Fateh Burj, India's tallest victory tower, located in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar . I commemorate the historic victory of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his Sikh army over the Mughal forces led by Wazir Khan of Sirhind in the Battle of Chappar Chiri in 1711.
Historical background
Sikh Legacy – My construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2011, marking 300 years since the pivotal Battle of Chappar Chiri . I stand as a powerful symbol of the establishment of Sikh rule in Punjab and honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.
Key highlights
Tallest Minar – My most prominent feature is my impressive height of 328 feet (100 meters), making me the tallest minar in India. The surrounding memorial complex features statues of Sikh warriors and offers a serene park-like environment. From my upper levels, visitors can often experience panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Why people come here
Historical Connection – People visit me to connect with a significant chapter of Sikh history and to pay homage to the valor of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. I am a place for reflection, learning about the region's rich past, and appreciating the architectural grandeur.
What to expect
Serene Atmosphere – You can expect a serene and historically rich environment. I offer a chance to delve into Sikh heritage and admire a significant landmark. The atmosphere is generally calm, making me suitable for quiet contemplation, educational visits, and family outings.
Best time to go
Cooler Seasons – The most pleasant time to visit me is typically during the cooler months, from October to March, when the weather is mild. Mornings or late afternoons are often ideal to avoid the midday sun and experience a more tranquil atmosphere.
Practical info
General Access – I am generally accessible during daylight hours. There might be a nominal entry fee for the memorial complex. Parking facilities are usually available nearby. While the complex is open, specific access to climb the tower might have restrictions or be temporarily unavailable; it's advisable to check beforehand. Most visitors spend about 1 to 2 hours exploring the site.
Good to know
Battle Site – I am situated in the historical village of Chappar Chiri , which was the actual site of the legendary battle. My design thoughtfully incorporates elements of traditional Sikh architecture, blending historical significance with modern construction.
