Uphill Trek & Serenity – I find that visitors can expect an approximately 1.5 to 2-kilometer uphill hike from Kaddukhal. The path can be steep in places but is well-maintained. At the top, a serene and spiritual atmosphere awaits, complemented by spectacular 360-degree views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges, including peaks like Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba .
Best Time to Visit
Clear Weather – The ideal times to visit are during the summer months from April to June and the autumn period from September to November. During these seasons, the weather is generally pleasant, and the skies are clear, offering unobstructed views of the mountains. I recommend avoiding the monsoon season due to slippery trails.
Practical Information & Etiquette
Modesty & Comfort – The hike usually takes about 1 to 2 hours one way, depending on your pace. For those unable to trek, ponies and palanquins are often available for hire at Kaddukhal. I advise dressing modestly, especially when entering the temple shrine. Wearing comfortable walking shoes with good grip is essential for the hike.
Good to Know
Ropeway Option – For those who prefer not to hike, a ropeway facility is available from Kaddukhal, providing a quicker and less strenuous way to reach the temple. This makes the temple accessible to a wider range of visitors. The temple is also located conveniently close to the popular hill station of Dhanaulti .
