Divine Legend – I find this temple highly significant as it is believed to be the only temple dedicated to Goddess Savitri, the first wife of Lord Brahma See Details . Legend says she cursed Brahma here after he performed a yagna with Goddess Gayatri. It holds a unique place in Hindu mythology and attracts devotees seeking blessings.

Why people come here

Pilgrimage & Views – People primarily visit for religious pilgrimage to pay homage to Goddess Savitri. Many also come for the stunning panoramic views of Pushkar Lake See Details and the surrounding Aravalli hills, especially during sunrise or sunset. It's also a popular spot for photography.

What to expect

Climb & Serenity – You can expect a journey upwards, either by climbing many steps or taking the ropeway. At the top, I find a relatively small temple complex that offers a serene atmosphere. The main draw is often the spectacular vista, providing a tranquil escape from the town below.

Practical info

Access Options – Access to the temple is primarily by a long flight of stairs, which can be quite a climb and requires a moderate fitness level. Alternatively, a ropeway (Udan Khatola) is available for a quicker and less strenuous ascent. The ropeway typically operates throughout the day, but it's always good to check current timings. The entire visit, including travel to the top and enjoying the views, usually takes around 1 to 2 hours.

Visitor etiquette

Respectful Conduct – As a religious site, I advise visitors to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. It is customary to remove your footwear before entering the main temple area. While photography is generally allowed in the outer areas and for the panoramic views, it might be restricted inside the sanctum sanctorum, so look for signs or observe others. Maintaining silence and respecting the sanctity of the place is appreciated.

Sunset Spot – I recommend timing your visit for either early morning to catch the sunrise or late afternoon to witness a beautiful sunset over Pushkar. The views are particularly magical during these times. Carrying water is advisable, especially if you plan to climb the stairs.
