Hill Station – This is a picturesque hill station nestled in the Western Ghats, near Dharampur in the Valsad district of Gujarat. I find it's known for its lush green forests and panoramic views.
What to do here
Nature Activities – Here, I observe visitors often enjoy taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding plains and the Arabian Sea. It's a popular spot for photography, especially during sunrise and sunset. You can also explore the various viewpoints and enjoy light walks amidst the natural beauty. During the monsoon, seasonal waterfalls add to its charm.
What to expect
Tranquil Escape – I find a generally calm and serene atmosphere here, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat from city life. It typically attracts families, nature lovers, and couples looking for a quiet getaway. The air is fresh, and the environment is naturally refreshing.
Best time to go
Cooler Months – From my observations, the best time to experience Wilson Hills is during the monsoon season (July to September) when the landscape is vibrant and waterfalls are active, or in the winter months (October to March) for a pleasantly cool climate. Summers can be warm.
Accessibility and effort level
Road Access – Reaching Wilson Hills usually involves a drive up winding roads. The journey itself offers scenic views. Once there, most viewpoints and attractions are easily accessible with minimal walking, making it suitable for most fitness levels.
Good to know
Unique Views – This is Gujarat's only hill station from which you can enjoy views of both the sea and the surrounding forested plains. It was named after Lord Wilson, the Governor of Bombay during the British era. There are also a few small temples in the vicinity.
