Engineering Feat – The Batasia Loop was constructed in 1919 to overcome the challenging steep incline of the railway track between Darjeeling and Ghoom. The Gorkha War Memorial, dedicated to the Gorkha soldiers of Darjeeling who sacrificed their lives, was added later in 1995.
