This is a historic Shiva temple nestled atop a hill, offering both spiritual solace and scenic beauty.

What is this place?

Ancient Temple – I'm a revered ancient Shiva temple, also known as Negheriting Shiva Doul , located in the serene surroundings of Assam. My history dates back to the 18th century, rebuilt by King Rajeswar Singha.

Why people come here

Worship & Views – People primarily visit me for religious worship, especially to offer prayers to Lord Shiva. Many also come to enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and the Brahmaputra river from my hilltop location.

What to expect

Peaceful Atmosphere – You can expect a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere here. The climb to the temple offers beautiful views, and once at the top, you'll find a serene environment conducive to prayer and contemplation. It generally attracts devotees, history enthusiasts, and nature lovers.

Best time to go

Morning & Winter – The best time to visit me is typically in the mornings, when the weather is pleasant and the temple is less crowded. The winter months (October to March) are also ideal for a comfortable visit.

Practical info

Temple Etiquette – As a religious site, visitors are generally expected to dress modestly. Photography might be restricted in certain areas inside the main temple. There are usually steps to reach the hilltop, so comfortable footwear is advisable.

Spiritual or cultural significance

Historical Worship – I hold significant spiritual importance as a dedicated Shiva temple, drawing devotees from across the region. My reconstruction by an Ahom king highlights my historical and cultural relevance to Assam's heritage and religious traditions.

Visitor etiquette

Respectful Conduct – Visitors are requested to maintain silence and respect the sanctity of the temple. It's customary to remove your footwear before entering the main shrine.
